Crafting Excellence, One Shoe at a Time

After 18 years of the shoe shine being a side hustle, Jenny bought PLSS from the founder in Nov.2021. As an actor Jenny has played lead roles at The Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival and  Soulpepper as well as at most major theatre companies across Canada and The Royal Shakespeare Company in the UK. Jenny has an extensive career in film and TV with recurring roles on The Lake (Amazon), Station 11 (Apple) and Ride (YTV) and played the role of Coach on CBC’s radio drama Afghanada.  Jenny has been nominated for 3 Dora awards, and won 1 Jessie Richardson (Vancouver Theatre) and one Betty Mitchell award (Calgary Theatre awards).

Walk in dusty, walk out classy. 
Lynn has been polishing shoes at Penny Loafers for a very long time. While not in the bustling downtown, she’s in scrubs, working with animals. She moves between the worlds with quiet precision.  Though she shines alongside some seriously talented folks, Lynn prefers life behind the spotlight-showing up to events and enjoying the show.  Back at the shine she’ll work magic-reviving your shoes, buff your brogues and bring them back to life making your dress shoes more successful than you are.

Reka has always enjoyed helping people. Before working as a shoe-shine valet she worked as a beautician, taught yoga, read tarot cards, and practiced Reiki, picking up lots of good stories and life experiences along the way.  These days, alongside shining shoes, Reka also works with the elderly as a caregiver and companion. From wellness to shoe shining Reka has enjoyed every chapter and loves meeting new people in this one.

Christine is an actor, writer, and a Collective Artistic Leadership member at Shakespeare in the Ruff.  Christine has been seen on stages across Canada. As a writer, she has contributed to Intermission Magazine and CBC Arts. Her original play Old Miranda is in development and will receive a public reading at the Stratford Festival in 2026 as well as co-adapting R&J for Stratford. Christine also works extensively in film and television. She has received a Dora Award, a Canadian Screen Award, and the Birks Diamond Tribute to Women in Film.

Navtej Sandhu is a Dora award-winning Toronto actor with recent credits including The Caged Bird Sings and Mahabharata which recently performed at the Lincoln Centre in New York City. Navtej is also an experienced vocalist and an intermediate actor combatant who is working towards her advanced certification. She strives to tell her story and amplify the voices of communities that have had their voices stifled.

Sara May Jarvie-Clark is a musician, theatre artist and writer based in Toronto. Her training is rooted in classical violin, folk art, socially engaged theatre and experimental performance. Her work builds stories and songs devoted to desire, literature, mysticism, and philosophy. She is currently working on her second studio album, ‘The Crossing’ and completing her Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies at York University.

Natalia is a Ukranian flower farmer who came to Canada after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She lives in Canada with her daughter and husband and runs her own upholstery restoration business as well as a small landscaping business.

Jessica Rose is a film and theatre actor who grew up in Kitchener. She is a graduate of both Humber College’s Theatre Performance program and The National Theatre School. She has performed on multiple stages across Canada such as Nova Scotia, Alberta, Quebec and Ontario. Jessica is studying ASL to become an interpreter and make theatre more accessible for all audience members. Heidi is a graduate of Studio 58 and an accomplished performer who has worked internationally across theatre, improvisation, and stand-up comedy. She has toured and performed around the world, including in Graz, Austria. A longtime presence in Montreal’s theatre scene, Heidi has been a regular performer at Théâtre Sainte-Catherine in Montreal for nearly 20 years. In recognition of her contribution to the theatre, she received the Artist of the Year Award from TSC in 2020. Follow her at @heidilynneweeks

Olaoluwa, aka Lu, is a Nigerian next-gen emerging theatre artist. With over 8 years on-stage, graduating the National Theatre School of Canada, acting in 3 major Canadian cities and participating in the 2024 Banff New Play Actor’s training Program; Lu proves that he is committed to the arts. Outside of the arts, Lu also holds a degree in criminology, loves to fix bicycles, plays ultimate frisbee, and engages in numerous hobbies (bookbinding anyone?).
